To copy files from either a 'Home' or 'Shared' drive to your home PC, right click on the file and select 'Copy'...
You can then paste this file to wherever you wish on your local PC's C: drive. To copy files from your home PC reverse this process, i.e. 'Copy' the file from your PC and 'Paste' onto your school 'Home' drive. You can also use standard Windows 'drag and drop' to move files between the two locations. Please note, if for example you copy a Microsoft Word document from school to your PC you must have Word installed to be able to access this file. Password Changes and Multiple UsersIf when using either 'Home' or 'Shared' drives you receive the message below...
This will be because the school password saved on your home PC is now out of date (i.e. you have changed your password at school recently). To update to your new school password click 'OK' to clear the message, click 'File' menu item on your internet browser and select the item 'Login As...' item.
The 'Login As...' box will then appear and then enter your new school password and check the 'Save Password' box and click the 'Login' button.
If there are more than one person using 'Home School Link' click on the down arrow on the end of the 'User Name' box. Select the correct login id from the list which appears and then click the 'Login' button (there is no need to re-enter your password unless you have change it at school).
Problems You May Encounter Using Home and Shared DrivesIf when you use 'Home' or 'Shared' drives you get a 'The page cannot be displayed' message and when you click on the 'File' menu option in the internet browser you do not get the following menu list..
But you do get the standard menu items...
Please check that the following option in your internet browser is enabled... Select Tools from the menu bar…and Internet Options… from the drop down menu.
On the 'Advanced' tab please ensure that 'Enable folder view for FTP sites' is ticked on (this option is called 'Use Web Based FTP' in older versions of Internet Explorer).
If you cannot find these options then please ensure your version of 'Internet Explorer' is at least version 5.0 or higher. The FTP Folders option is included with the 'Internet Explorer Browsing Enhancements' feature in Internet Explorer 5.x & 6.x, which is installed only when you select a full or typical installation of Internet Explorer. It is installed by default with Windows 98 Second Edition, Windows Millennium Edition, Windows 2000 and Windows XP.
